PhonePe, backed by Walmart, is shifting its focus from consumer-facing quick-commerce to business-to-business services for offline merchants. The company, which launched Pincode in April 2021, has decided to shut down the app due to lack of traction in the competitive market. Pincode initially offered a variety of products but later focused only on food and ten-minute deliveries. However, relying on local shops for quick deliveries proved unsuccessful. PhonePe now plans to expand its business-to-business offerings, aiming for a public listing in India and growing beyond its dominant position in the payments sector.
