Ole Miss football took a hit with the new Transfer Portal rules because Lane Kiffin and his staff had mastered finding diamonds in the rough from both the winter and spring Portal windows. Half of Kiffin’s equation was removed.

The new college football Transfer Portal rules eliminated the spring window. The only open Transfer Portal window was announced as Jan. 2 through Jan. 16. I’ll explain how Ole Miss will likely take a step back for 2026, but long-term, the Rebels should evolve.
