Praxis 2020 Season Trailer
Description
In 2015, things were shifting. I felt like many of our connected movements–those to respond to climate change, to demand racial justice, to defend human rights were approaching a moment–a big one. I left my day job and set off on a low-budget, independent road trip for my radio show, Praxis, hoping to find out more about what this time felt like for other communities and hoping to meet interesting, engaged and inspiring activists working in those places. I met dozens of people, slept on many couches, and sent home a weekly broadcast to the station. I learned it wasn’t just me who felt we were on the precipice of a big change–the kind many of us had been working toward and hoping for all our lives.
When I came back home, I didn’t have the time or resources to fully produce those interviews and release them to the world. Now, covid has provided an odd opportunity for me to revisit this archive and I have reached back out to many of these interviewees to talk with them about the last 5 years. What’s changed in their communities? What lessons have they learned from the Trump years? What are they hoping we can do now as the urgent need to make radical change intensifies by the day? And what do they think of their past selves’ predictions in the light of these wild years?
Tune in every Monday, starting in October, to hear from a wide range of voices–then and now–sharing their experience and knowledge as we navigate new terrain in making radical change happen together. For more information about the project, head to the website.
