Pregnancy Yoga is an area of yoga that many teachers do not have a lot of knowledge in.  It is rarely included in teacher training courses outside of specific pregnancy yoga trainings.  There are also a lot of different thoughts and opinions on the subject online, making it very hard to do your own research.

In effort to shed some light on the subject and to help make yoga safer for pregnant women, in this show Jamie interviews two pregnancy yoga teachers, Gabi  Goncalves and Grace Sisto.  They discuss:

  • How the practice should change depending on the trimester
  • What are the first questions a teacher should ask a pregnant student
  • Is pregnancy a good time to start yoga and if you have an existing practice when should you stop practicing
  • What styles of yoga are best for pregnant women
  • What postures should be avoided during these nine months

And much more.  This is a very useful podcast for anyone who is pregnant, has a friend or relative who is pregnant or for any teachers who want to expand their knowledge in order to keep students practicing safely.
