Pretty Prose: Beauty in Darkness (S01E6 Dark Fiction)
Description
This week we discussed three novels that explore beauty in darkness through rhythmic and lyrical prose. Through Death as an omniscient narrator we traverse morality, generational trauma and book burning. We venture through the nine levels of hell and explore controversial fanfiction. Lastly, we explored our inherent fear of the ocean, the monsters within, and how these monsters can represent something sexual. Tune in for juicy facts on these dark themes.
The books discussed in todays episode are:
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
- The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
- Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armstrong
Here is the link the the infamous woodblock painting "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" by Katsushika Hokusai
