Predator, a 1987 American science fiction action-horror film directed by John McTiernan, stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a special forces team who, while on a rescue mission in a Central American rainforest, discovers they are being huinted by a technologically advanced extraterrestrial alien. The film follows the team as they are stalked and picked off one by one by the creature, a skilled hunter, eventually leading to a desperate and intelligent struggle for survival by the final remaining member. After initial mixed reactions, the film became a cult classic, expanding into a popular franchise and is now considered a benchmark in the action genre for its blend of intense action, creature design by Stan Winston, and a compellingly vulnerable portrayal of its hero.
