RMR-088: Where Are They Hiding? A Survey of Rare Appalachian Salamanders with Tyler Wicks

<g class="gr_ gr_148 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style replaceWithoutSep" id="148" data-gr-id="148">The</g> Southern Appalachian Mountains are the epicenter of salamander diversity globally and are home to many rare endemic species.
Surveying these endemic species is important for assessing their population status.
Tyler’s recent survey, which was funded in part by a 2018 grant from Friends of Roan Mountain, focused primarily on the Northern gray-cheeked salamander (Plethodon <g class="gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling" id="4" data-gr-id="4">montanus</g>), an Appalachian endemic.
