Raj Salhotra, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Momentum Education
Description
Raj Salhotra is the Co-Founder and Executive Director at Momentum Eduction, a nonprofit corporation with a mission to provide learning experiences, mentorship, summer opportunities, scholarships, and individualized support to ensure first-generation, low-income students get to and through post-secondary education and into the workforce.
Raj has worked in education, public policy, and even served as an Intern in the White House in 2011 where he briefed the Deputy Assistant to the President daily on pressing news and public policy issues.
An interesting fact is that Raj ran for Houston City Council At-large Position 1 in 2019 and qualified for a runoff election (among five candidates), then after receiving over 76k votes (43.5%) in the runoff election.
Raj has completed numerous internships, teaching assistantships, Teach for America Corps, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Policy Studies from Rice University in 2013, and his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 2018.
His vision is to create a movement to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their dreams by expanding educational opportunity both through non-profits and public policy.
