The maritime sector is undergoing a rapid technological transformation as autonomous systems, green fuels and alternative ship designs are introduced at an unprecedented pace. It is essential to ensure that human factors remain central in the development of maritime systems and regulation - for the benefit of seafarers and maritime safety.

Against this background, the Danish Maritime Authority is bringing human factors and human-centred design principles on the international agenda. In October 2025 the Danish Maritime Authority gathered participants from maritime authorities, class societies and seafarers for an international Regulators’ Forum in Copenhagen.
