It is middle of the rain season in Kenya. The rains had taken a week's break but came tumbling down from up yonder on Saturday 12th, 2025.

Bolts of lightning flashed through the thick clouds followed by thunder claps that seemed to gallop and boom across the evening skyline.

The thunder came intermittently after each flash, and left an echo trail that could be heard until it diminished in the distant horizon.

The birds sang cheerfully to welcome back the liquid bounty that came down in big clear-drops that resembled the finest diamonds.

I too stood in awe as the downpour hit the roof and slid off to the ground in rivulets. The pools filled up in continuous waves from which run-off took the path of least resistance on a downhill trajectory.

It is a relief to see rain because entire ecosystems will regenerate to provide life support for a host of species, humans included.

"In all things nature, there is something of the marvelous." - Aristotle.
