Republican States Help DHS Verify Voter Citizenship
Update: 2025-12-04
Description
Four Republican-led states, including Iowa, have agreed to help the Department of Homeland Security access state drivers license data for a national voter citizenship verification system. The agreement, part of a legal settlement, requires the Department of Homeland Security to expand its SAVE system and provides the states with access to federal data for identity checks. The states will provide one thousand randomly selected drivers license records for a quality review and make efforts to help the Department of Homeland Security gain full use of state drivers license files.
