Robert Green : How to Become a Leader | A Sacrificial Journey to Happiness
Description
Robert Green began his journey growing up in Amsterdam, New York. He had a rough childhood as he tried his best to step in between bullies and their prey. This caused Robert to get in a lot of fights and get attention from the adults in his life. His mom began to set up appointments with a psychologist to "help" Robert with his fighting and unconventional ways.
Eventually, Robert outgrew his tough days to begin looking for work. He moved from NY to North Carolina in search of an easier and better life. Robert began getting a few jobs in factories and manufacturing facilities and slowly worked his way up. His work ethic increased to a level that made him want to get to the top as quickly as possible and do whatever it took. Soon Robert got a supervisory role and began developing a team.
Early on in his career, Robert began having back issues. One day at work Roberts back went out and completely immobilized him. He was out of work so long that he lost his job that he had worked so hard to get. After a few months and no more money, Robert found himself and his cat Lenny living out of his car and walking to a local church to get food for survival. One day his friend saw him walking down the sidewalk to his car and asked if he could help. Through the help of his friend, Robert began finding opportunities for work and to get back to a normal life.
Robert landed a great job at a huge facility in NC after his friend introduced him to the HR Manager and he started to quickly move up in the company. After only a few months at the new company, Roberts back went out again. Robert decided that he would fight his way through this issue and continue coming to work with a back brace and do whatever he could to keep his job.
Robert's life continued to present challenges but his mindset had shifted and he had determined that no matter what he wouldn't give up or give in to circumstances that he couldn't control.
In this episode Robert talks about true leadership and what it takes to become a caring leader that can make a difference.
