In its obsessive search for the secret of immortality, the shogunate government sends a party of convicted criminals to a mysterious and deadly island to claim the Elixir of Life. To ensure that they complete their mission, these rogues are each accompanied by an elite executioner, ordered to eliminate them the moment they step out of line. Among these assorted killers are the near-immortal assassin Gabimaru, and the swordswoman Sagiri of the Asaemon. They will need to navigate an island filled with lethal dangers and alien beings, while also keeping an wary eye on their fellow convicts and executioners.
