Boone Mayor Elijah Stines talks about the Boone City Council meeting held Monday. Stines reported a fairly quick meeting. A Public Hearing was held on a project to rehabilitate the Ground Storage Reservoir at the Water Treatment Plant. Bidding will be the next step. Stines noted that several engineering contracts were awarded to SEH for development of plans for projects at Boone Water Works, including a new transmission main to run on the northside of the city to the Boone Industrial Park. Ondrea Elmquist, Boone City Administrator, talks about budget preparation. It is that time of the year and she said it began with the City’s Capital Improvement Plan. She explained the process, identifying the capital projects that are active and others that are pending. She talked about funding and how many city reserves are designated for capital projects happening in the next couple of years. This year the plan is large due to infrastructure for the Daisy Plant. He also talked about the election where voters will select two of the three candidates to be on the board and will vote on the revenue purpose statement and the vote to extend the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy. Coaches Corner for October 27th: Cass Warson, Boone Girls Cross Country

Mikaela Kienitz, CEO Boone County Hospital, Health Talk. Kienitz reviews information on the financial position through the first quarter of the fiscal year. She also says the Board had received the final audit report, but didn’t have enough time for a review. They had received information last month, a preliminary look at the audit and will consider adopting the audit when they meet in early December. A big impact on the audit has been the loss of the second operating room due to the sprinkler head malfunction in July. Work to rebuild the second operating room is expected to be completed this week. Aired Monday, October 27, 2025.

Ronda Kelley and Tammy Troup, Ericson Public Library, talk about the activity at the Ericson Public Library as they wrap up the month of October and move into the month of November. A new program about “Junk Journaling” will be featured, Tuesday evening at 6:30. Mr. Z will do the Afterschool Science Program at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30th. Many regular programs continue in November. The library will be closed on Veterans Day and on Thanksgiving Day and on Friday, November 28th, but will be open regular hours on Saturday, November 29th.
