I also have the spacial recognition issues. Explaining it to people closer to neuro "typical" is tricky. I usually say it's something akin to prosopagnosia and aphantasia. Then they ask me what both of those are. 🫤

other factors in why self diagnosis is ok: many of us (autistic people) struggle with career advancement enough that paying $2,000 out of pocket to get professional testing is completely unfeasible, and almost never covered by insurance. We take many self tests and talk with other autistic people, often for decades, before being able to get a formal diagnosis.
