Royalty
Description
There are many songs featuring different royal figures such as kings, queens, princesses, dukes, earls and lords, and ladies. The Royal Guardsmen mined a rich field when they sang about Snoopy, the dog from the famous Peanuts cartoon. Snoopy vs. The Red Baron hit the high spot in the charts in the early sixties. A rare royal is mentioned in Dire Strait’s Sultans of Swing while ABBA’s Dancing Queen and Juice Newton’s Queen Of Hearts draw inspiration from a royal female. Of interest is our own The Easybeats version of an old Chuck Berry song Little Queenie. Teen idol James Darren sings his cynical hit Her Royal Majesty and you will recognise the opening of Gene Chandler’s Duke Of Earl later used in a well known advertising jingle.
