Russia Sets Up Nuclear Missiles in Belarus
Update: 2025-12-26
Description
U.S. researchers have spotted signs of Russia setting up nuclear-capable hypersonic Oreshnik missiles at a former airbase in eastern Belarus. The missiles, which could reach up to three thousand four hundred miles into Europe, are being deployed near the town of Krichev, about one hundred ninety miles east of Minsk and three hundred miles southwest of Moscow. This marks the first time since the Cold War that Moscow bases nukes outside its borders, and comes as tensions rise over Ukraine arms and the New START treaty nears its end.
