We're really proud of what we've created, and we hope everyone else loves it too!- My first question is: how do you manage development in parallel on so many platforms? Does this impact your choices in development? It is pretty challenging! We maintain a set of core rules and behaviors so we can make sure the game will work on all the platforms. From there, we focus on one platform at a time- adding in platform specific quirks or new features. It is quite the undertaking!- How did you form the relationship with Nitrome for Shovel Knight Dig?We were a fan of their web games and mobile games for years, and we reached out to see if they would be interested. Luckily, they said yes, and we got to work!- I think it's safe to say that Shovel Knight, because of its great success and incredible quality, has influenced many independent developers. On your side, which game(s), indie or not, have influenced you in the last two years?Oh thank you! Well, we've been influenced by hundreds of games...it's hard to pick just a few. Some ones that come to mind are Sekiro, Into the Breach, God of War, Return of Obra Dinn, Smash Bros Ultimate, Baba is You, and a Short Hike.- In 2016, you published the compilation Azure Striker Gunvolt and you will publish Cyber Shadow. How did you come to publish games? Is this a natural development for Yacht Club Games? What place will publishing take in your strategy for the future? We were getting a lot of requests from other developers to help get their games out in the world or make them better, and we would simply give advice and move on. Eventually we just thought it'd be better to go all in and truly help as much as we could by publishing. Hopefully we'll be successful with these projects, and we can continue to do our best to get more fun games out in the world!- What do you envision for Shovel Knight in the future? Do you have other IPs in development? Would you be ready to "resurrect" a classic video game if you had the chance? If so, which one? We'd love to keep growing and stretching Shovel Knight as a franchise- whether that's taking it through the ages like Super Shovel Knight and Shovel Knight 64 or expanding it to bizarre spinoffs like Shovel Knight puzzle games. We don't currently have other IPs in development, but we'd love to try something new next. While we're not dying to make a game in an IP that isn't our own...it would be cool to see something like Super Mario Bros 4...wouldn't it?Hope you have a nice end to your year!
