Senator Barry Ward talks to Mark O’Doherty about the legislative process, how a bill passes through the Oireachtas to become a law. Mark O’Doherty is a former ministerial adviser and worked in the Government Chief Whip’s Office in Leinster House for over seven years. This episode of The Irish Legislation Podcast examines the five stages of a bill, where bills come from and how they are initiated, private member’s bills, pre-legislative scrutiny, the whip system and the guillotine.
