Welcome back to the third episode of Season 2 of the Polyglot Perspective Podcast!


Are you interested in self-studying languages in addition to practicing languages in the real world? In this episode high school student Emily Hinckley discusses her journey with self-studying as well as taking classes. She talks with us about a variety of topics such as self study vs the school system, how to take the self study approach, practicing in real life, and toxic productivity. She provides her perspective on language learning and describes her experience.


Emily is a sixteen-year-old living in the United States. She is an Irish-Ukranian-American who comes from a family with 63 cousins. She is currently intermediate to advanced in Spanish and is learning Brazilian Portuguese and Russian. Other than language learning, her hobbies include traveling, cooking, listening to music, and watching movies.


This episode highlights Emily’s story through her perspective, the polyglot perspective.
