URMMMM, WOW. #CannesLions2023, you did good. (Ps. not Cannes Film Festival.)
This was my second attendance of the annual festival, and it was MEGA (I first went with work in 2017). This year, I was selected as part of an initiative called Black Out 2023 headed up by Cephas Williams and a partnership between the Cannes Lions festival and The Black British Network. 50 Black creatives got to go on an all-expenses-paid trip funded by Cephas himself, and the likes of Google M&C Saatchi, Tesco, Yahoo, Soho House Group and more in the name of increasing Black creative representation in a traditionally white space. The mission? Get big industry players walking the walk that they promised during BLM in 2020.
