"Have you ever dreamed of a better version of yourself?" The Substance asks just how far will you go for youth and beauty. It critiques the pressure society puts on people, especially women, to be perfect. It also put us through the paces. Between the body horror, and the sound design the three of us were quite queasy while watching this, but that doesn't stop us from admiring the performances, the production design and the criminally not nominated sound design.
