SAMVAD (Together In Conversation): NEUROPLASTICITY AND BRAIN HEALTH
Update: 2025-01-17
Description
Namaste, Welcome to SAM-VAD (Together In Conversation) to the ones paying heed, this is where we try to draw your attention to things that matter and the importance of our attention, why is that? Now ‘let us remember this again, ‘What we give our Attention to matters,’ as Our life’s experience would ultimately amount to whatever we had paid attention to.
Attention: is as fundamental as food; and we go blundering about, seeking ways to assuage the craving, instead of learning how to provide ourselves with what we need, sensibly and calmly. Once our attention is drawn to the mechanism of why and what we give attention to, it is as if a veil has been stripped off and we become freer in our action and choices. And that is our endavour.
This week I bring to your attention an excerpt titled – Neuroplasticity and Brain Health from an interview conducted with Dr. Austin Perlmutter (M.D.) titled ‘Neuroplasticity – On transforming Your Brain Health’ by Dr. Gregory Kelly.
Neuroplasticity and Brain Health
Our brains aren’t static; they adapt continuously, sculpted by experiences and intentional choices.
This means that by actively engaging with our brain’s plastic potential, we can rewire our brains, shaping our mental health, decision-making abilities, and even biological wellness.
Key Takeaways:
-Empowerment through Neuroplasticity: The brain’s adaptive nature can be harnessed to improve mental health and make better decisions.-Mindset and Biology Connection: Our psychological and biological states are deeply intertwined.-Lifestyle as a Brain Health Catalyst: Simple changes like quality sleep and exercise can boost neuroplasticity and overall brain function.
Lifestyle modifications also play a vital role in brain health. He emphasizes that even one good night’s sleep can drastically improve cognitive performance. Additionally, diets rich in polyphenols, found in plant-based foods, can bolster immune function and slow cognitive decline. These insights remind us that a well-rounded approach—addressing neuroplasticity, mindset, and lifestyle—can make a profound difference in our health.
Austin Perlmutter, M.D., is a board-certified internal medicine physician and New York Times bestselling author. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his internal medicine residency at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
