It ain't chess. Especially when you have a good QB.
When you make it chess instead of checkers on offense you're just mysticizing instead of being directly and easily effective.
Since late February 2023, the Chiefs have spiraled to chess instead of checkers, ironically over complicating their thinking but fielding an evermore overly simplistic offense that takes no advantage of how designed plays can help get guys open. To zero positive offensive net gain versus before late February 2023.
Such that even the institutional memory of what to do in big situations is nearly lost.
To the detriment of Patrick's legacy, such that right now, even when he needed to be dialed in for goals, he has played easily (and it isn't CLOSE) the worst five game stretch of his career, not looking like a top 20 QB, let alone what the real Patrick Mahomes should look like.
