During the lockdowns of 2020, he started a small website called Watch Aesthetic while on furlough, writing about new releases and watch culture just to pass the time. That side project ended up opening doors to Oracle Time, then GQ, and suddenly, he was turning his hobby into something much bigger.
James shares how a simple Tissot inherited from his grandfather sparked his passion, why the TAG Heuer Monaco became his “waited-for grail,” and how writing about watches reshaped the way he collects them. We also get into why sometimes the most exciting stories aren’t coming out of Switzerland anymore, the rise of British independents, and how to find your voice in the industry.
