Season 1 Episode 9: Looking Back to Move Forward
Description
A part of Reproducible discipleship is looking back on the timeline of our lives and honestly assessing what we have encountered, where we have been and how God has shown up on the mountaintops and the valleys. We encourage you to do this exercise along with us, here are the instructions: Draw a line down the middle of the paper. Above the line write positive critical incidents in chronological order. Below the line write negative critical incidents in chronological order. Critical incidents are any events, people, relationships, situations, books, movies, choices, etc. that have significantly influenced your life and your journey with God.
After completing your timeline use these questions to help you reflect and process your timeline: What are the significant events that shaped who I am today? What situations in your story were you most aware of God's action in your life? What is a relationship(s) that affected your spirituality positively, and how? What is the relationship that caused you to feel distanced from God? What fears have shaped my story? Which still do? What were the "mountain tops" or highlights of my spiritual life? What have been the "valleys" or dark times of my spiritual life?
