Setting the Standard: formalizing 911 dispatcher training with Jessica Snead
Description
In this episode, we sit down with Jessica Snead, Program Coordinator and Lead Instructor at the Houston Community College 911 Dispatch Academy. With nearly a decade of hands-on dispatch experience, Jessica has worked across all emergency service disciplines, rising to a supervisory role and now actively training the next generation of dispatchers.
Jessica shares her passion for elevating pre-agency training to better equip dispatchers before they step into their roles. She believes that formal training, which covers the essentials of emergency communications, can alleviate burnout, reduce turnover, and improve preparedness among trainees.
Join us as Jessica discusses how her academy is addressing these issues and the positive impact she envisions for both trainees and agencies alike.
