Sewage Spill Reported in Hanapepe

Description
HANAPEPE, KAUA`I (Ben Caxton) — County officials are notifying the public of a wastewater spill on Puolo Road near Kaumuali‘i Highway. The spill is the result of a pipe clamp failing, causing wastewater to leak from the sewer system. The Wastewater Management Division is working with the contractor, temporarily operating the wastewater collection system to address the failed pipe clamp and to clean up and disinfect the area. Officials estimate that approximately 2,000 gallons of raw wastewater spilled.
