To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Humility says – I want grace more than I want to be right

John 8:12   //  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”


Pride blocks the light of Jesus in our lives because it moves our focus to SELF.

2 Chronicles 26:3-5 NIV  //  Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jekoliah; she was from Jerusalem.  He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah had done. He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.
2 Chronicles 26:16 NIV  //  But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God…


Pride distorts our vision

2 Chronicles 26:21 NIV  //  King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house—leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.
Proverbs 16:18   //  Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 8:13   //  To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech


Get Honest about areas of pride
Listen to Others

2 Chronicles 26:5  //  He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.


Humility

James 4:6  //  But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”


Humility = God over self
Pride says I can, humility says God can

James 4:10 NIV  //  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.


Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less often.
