Description

Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, she is the first Asian Pacific American to serve on a state’s highest court in the Southern United States. Prior to joining the Georgia Supreme Court, she served on the Court of Appeals, where she was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal and took office in 2013. With her election the following year to that court, she became the first Asian Pacific American to be elected to a statewide office in Georgia. It may surprise you to know that becoming a Supreme Court Justice wasn’t really part of her original life plan.  In this latest installment of the women trailblazers series, she shares with host Ebony Phillips some of the most pivotal moments of her career.  She is Justice Carla Wong McMillian and she was “the first.” Tune in!
