Sedgwick County Democrats have chosen Representative Silas Miller to fill a vacant Kansas Senate seat. Miller, a Democrat from Wichita, won the nomination by defeating Tom Witt in a special convention. Miller, a Marine Corps veteran, is known for his familiarity with Wichita and his focus on financial pressures and local issues. He will replace Mary Ware, who retired due to health concerns. A similar selection process will take place in three weeks to fill Millers vacant House District eighty-six seat.
