Description

Welcome back to Feast the Halls where we are looking at movie this holiday season that resonate with the themes of Advent.

Today we are looking at what happens when we are looking at the theme of Peace but Cole has chosen a film that has no peace whatsoever. What happens when peace is the thing missing from your life? That’s the question we ask as we watch Silent Night (2023).

On Christmas Eve, a father’s life is shattered when a violent gang shootout leaves his young son dead and him severely wounded, costing him his voice. Traumatized and consumed by grief, he withdraws from the world, struggling to hold his life together as the loss hardens into a singular purpose.

Over the course of the following year, he methodically transforms himself—physically and mentally—preparing for a calculated act of vengeance. As Christmas approaches once again, he sets his plan into motion, confronting the criminals responsible in a brutal, wordless reckoning driven entirely by action, memory, and raw emotion.

How will this movie reveal the need for peace in our lives? Does it create a conversation for us to have about how we can find peace or does this film say too much without saying anything at all?
