The year is 1922. A respected judge inexplicably vanishes in a decrepit mansion and two of the world's most remarkable men are summoned to investigate: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes, and Harry Houdini, the world's greatest escape artist. Aided by a beautiful, young psychic, the unlikely partners probe a mystery that becomes murkier and more perilous at every turn and brings them face to face with evil incarnate. To solve the riddle of The Spook House - and to survive its dangers - they must call upon all of their extraordinary mental and physical powers. The story draws upon the real-life friendship of Conan Doyle and Houdini, two vastly different men brought together by their fascination with the paranormal.

Clever Idea Well Executed
C. Michael Forsyth has written a very entertaining novel. The famous, and real life friends, Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini - in very well researched depictions - join forces to investigate reports of a haunted house in 1922 Virginia. Conan Doyle was a famous believer in the supernatural; Houdini was an equally well known skeptic and debunker of fraudulent spiritual claims. The back and forth between the two, along with entertaining side characters - some real and some fictional, keep the story moving through some very clever plot twists

Waiting for their next adventure, already!
When two truly larger-than-life characters are brought together for an investigation, that promises to test the best of their abilities, we can expect fireworks. Fortunately for us, the author has shown formidable prowess in his handling of both Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the Great Harry Houdini. More importantly, he has given us a mystery worthy of John Dickson Carr, with additional features that do a gothic piece justice. I myself have always been drawn towards these two great persons who have entertained countless millions and have continued influencing us till date, but who were otherwise polar opposites, and practically antagonists for some time. It was nice to read a fictional adventure that brought them together, amidst all the difficulties. Highly Recommended.

Entertaining Read
Loved the characters! I enjoyed the recent TV series and wanted more. I was delighted to see this story with Houdini and Doyle . The true relationship between these two makes the fictional story all the more interesting. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it was a light read... A little more depth would have made it a 5. Definitely recommend it for fans of these two gentlemen. Very enjoyable!

A ripping yarn!
It's like a 1920's X Files. One believer and one doubter team up to solve a spooky mystery. Only this time it's not Scooby Do and Shaggy, it's Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle and famed magician Harry Houdini (but you knew that, the title gives it away). A famed judge goes missing, vanishes in an abandoned old mansion. His friend contacts Doyle, who has now taken to dabbling in investigations. Good friend Houdini, fascinated by the macabre details, signs on for the case and before you know it the game is afoot, as the duo cross paths with strange backwoods folk and 1920 celebrities.
