Description

In this podcast, I sit down with Ron to talk early Nepalese community in Omaha, his childhood, his work as a peace corps volunteer in India and the work he did as director of international students at Bellevue University. In July 1968, amid the Vietnam War, Ron Psota graduated and joined the Peace Corps, training in Hemet, California, before serving in India until 1971. After returning, he worked in urban and transportation planning in Nebraska for over a decade, while fostering connections with international students, particularly from India. Married in 1972 and later divorced, Ron adopted two children and has had students from over 50 countries stay with him. Eventually, he transitioned to international education at Bellevue University, recruiting many students from Nepal and Thailand. Post-retirement, Ron traveled extensively but has since focused on working with international students and resettling refugees in Omaha, despite health challenges that led to a disability retirement.
