SoftBank Group is reportedly in talks to acquire DigitalBridge Group, a private equity firm specializing in data centers and digital assets. This potential deal aligns with SoftBanks strategy to capitalize on the AI boom, following their history of investing in digital infrastructure, such as the purchase of Fortress Investment Group in 2017. The Japanese conglomerate, led by Masayoshi Son, has launched the $500 billion Stargate project with OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX to build massive data centers in the US. However, the projects progress has been slowed by location disputes.
