They were speaking in tongues to build themselves up and not God. If your in service for God and you don't have God's love, it's for nothing. They were giving out of there abundance for personal recognition. I Corinthians 14: 6-7, James 3:45 , John 13: 2-5,14, Luke 21: 1-4, Galatians 5:22 .
