Description

Today I walk with Regina Loukotová about founding an architecture school in Czechia. Regina Loukotová is a Czech architect, educator, and co-founder of the Architectural Institute in Prague (school called ARCHIP), where she serves as Rector. She studied architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague, earning a Ph.D. focused on public space and architectural competitions. In 1999, she co-founded GEM Architects with Martin Roubík, gaining international recognition for projects like their proposal for the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. In 2010, she co-founded ARCHIP, the first private architecture school in Czechia, based in Prague, taught entirely in English. We talk about Regina’s educational path, various architectural education methods, key motivations behind establishing the school, curriculum gaps and challenges, teaching stuff and all the principles regarding shaping a valuable studying environment.Extras/sources:ARCHIPA glimpse into the history of architectural education (Life of an architect)Studies versus the future (Illustrarch)Interview with Regina (czech)Magazine RZUT (polish)This conversation is a fascinating story about redirecting former student's frustrations into creating a valuable institution. Hope restored!Klaudia
