Description

In today’s episode, we welcome Ramona Ferreyra to the show to discuss her advocacy work and her perspective on the state of community. Ramona is a social entrepreneur, historian, poet, and founder of Ojala Threads; her product based business, rooted in sharing Taino stories.

Ramona’s passion for advocacy came when she recognized the disconnect between the changes in law and the interests of her people. Growing up in New York City, Ramona witnessed first-hand the dearth of government social programs for children, the inequities in public housing, and the lack of quality of education in public schools.

Tune in as Jeanette and Ramona chat about:
- Social issues plaguing our community today
- The prison industrial complex, and its impact on communities of color
- A brief reflection of the contentious social/political history of The Bronx
