Today's Case


A 25-year-old male presents with diarrhea for the previous 6 weeks. He describes having non-bloody stools with significant mucous output approximately four times per day. Associated symptoms include left-sided, crampy abdominal pain with no radiation that is worse prior to bowel movements, urgency, and tenesmus. Also, he reports fatigue and unintentional weight loss of 5 lb. He denies rashes and joint pain. He has never been diagnosed with any medical conditions, has not traveled recently, and takes no medications.
