Sudan civilians endure harrowing escapes as RSF advances in Kordofan, IOM warns
Update: 2025-12-21
Description
In Sudan, the RSF is expanding attacks into Kordofan after seizing control of Darfur. The Sudan Doctors Network says at least 16 people were killed in Dilling, with civilians among the dead. More than 100,000 people have been killed in the conflict, and over 14 million displaced. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Mohammed Rifaat of the International Organization for Migration says women and children are fleeing alone, often separated from male relatives. He says many have walked for more than eight days to reach White Nile State, facing harassment at militia checkpoints. Rifaat warns families are arriving with no shelter, healthcare or belongings after months without assistance. He says the escalating brutality and limited humanitarian access raise grave concerns for civilians still trapped in conflict areas.
