Description

Over the past year, Tren de Aragua has dominated headlines and become a political talking point in several countries in the region. Even US President Donald Trump has placed the group at the center of his rhetoric on new anti-immigration policies.

The criminal group originated as a prison gang in Venezuela, led by Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, alias "Niño Guerrero." From his headquarters in the Tocorón prison, Niño Guerrero ruled over the group and its illicit activities.

This month, we’re diving into the extraordinary stories of some of the region's criminal leaders in our annual series, Summer InSights. Over the next few weeks, our audio content will feature narrated stories about these criminal leaders, the groups they lead, and the illicit economies they control.

Tren de Aragua’s Criminal Portfolio: Adapt or Die | Written by InSight Crime’s Venezuela Investigative Unit and read by Daniel Reyes.
