Summit School District educators show support for Colorado Springs School District educators with walk-in

Summit School District educators and support staff members alike showed solidarity for their counterparts in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, Oct. 8, by holding a walk-in, a brief demonstration that does not disrupt class time.

The Colorado Springs Education Association engaged in a one-day teacher’s strike on Wednesday, Oct. 8. According to reporting from Colorado Public Radio, the district’s employees did so to protest the loss of their collective bargaining agreement and what they say is a retaliatory teaching environment.

“While this strike does not reflect SCEA’s direct experience, it highlights a troubling reality: the ongoing erosion of public education across Colorado poses a serious threat to our schools, our educators, and our communities,” Summit County Education Association vice president Brian Tracey said via email.
