Description

Wendy Troxel from the NACADA Center for Research hosts Dr. Shantalea Johns from Wayne State University, a licensed social worker and active NACADA member and scholar. In this episode we explore important issues related to how academic advisors can best support students who struggle with mental health concerns. We highlight the methods and results from Dr. Johns’ dissertation, “A Mixed Methods Approach to Understanding the Factors that Impact Confidence to Offer Support to College Students with Mental Health Concerns” and offer practical tips and strategies for academic advisors who work directly with students in distress.
