For years so many of us have had a love/hate relationship with the YA on the best of times, and at the worst of times we wonder why they take our money and have such a strangle-hold on our industry standards.
So Pooja and I talk professional organizations, non-profits, and the ethical implications of all of those titles. We talk about the stats and numbers from the Yoga Alliance, and the biggest retreat center for yoga professionals in the country…Kripalu.
The truth is this. Yoga teachers are most often poverty-wage workers. Without a professional organization to hold standards and yoga professionals accountable, how to we expect to build sustainable careers? How do we expect to keep people safe and also have the financial freedom to joyfully honor the linages and traditions of Yoga?
