I couldn't make it through this book...I've worked retail for around 10 years. I understand her point of view...heck, when I saw she released it, I bought it right away, thinking this was going to be great. This reads more like an angry blog than it does an actual book. In her bio, it says she started writing in 5th grade...I think she's still on that level. Overall, I was disappointed with what I bought.

Is it really the customers who are the problem?
I very much enjoy "the truth behind my job" books and have read quite a few, both self- and professionally published. This book, unfortunately, is not a great example of the genre. It appears to have been self published, but even taking that into consideration, it is particularly poorly written and organized. If you just want to get to the stories, this may not be a problem for you, but for me the mistakes (such as using "subordinate" instead of "insubordinate") were pretty distracting. There are a few places where I wasn't even able to figure out what the intended meaning of a sentence was; for example, "A lady said Kyleâs General Store employees donât know where anything is; how appetizing." This is particularly unfortunate coming from someone whose author biography describes a lifetime devotion to writing and makes clear that this is not her only publication.
My biggest issue with the book is that the author's attitude as an employee comes across as hostile to customers. This undermines her "many customers are rude or stupid" point, as it makes me wonder how many of the problems could have been avoided by an employee who was better at customer service. For example, the author complains about customers who ask her where something is when she's working in a department she doesn't usually work in, but she also complains about customers who ask if she works in a particular department. Another one of her stories seemed to boil down to "a customer asked me to help him find something on the shelf because he was blind, but if he was blind how did he get to the store?" It's possible that she did indeed catch a customer lying about being legally blind (or saying he was legally blind because he couldn't read or had a reading disability), but the hostile way the story is written made it feel more like she was setting out to be offended.
If you, like me, worked retail and like to share your misery with others, you may find some entertainment here. Just be sure to set your expectations accordingly.

so even with indents it still feels like a giant wall of text
Two issues I have with this book - first, the formatting.
