Tennessee Democrat Says Nashville Should Retain Ownership of Rock Excavated for Music City Loop: ‘Fiscally Reckless’
Update: 2025-11-19
Description
State Representative John Ray Clemmons (D-Nashville), who leads the House Democratic Caucus in the Tennessee General Assembly, said on Tuesday that it was "fiscally reckless" for the state government to allow Elon Musk's Boring Company to retain ownership over the excavated rock and earth from the tunnel set to be bored for the Music City Loop.
Clemmons made the statement to WKRN in response to the news that the Boring Company successfully transported its specially designed Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to Nashville, where the company has signed a lease with the State of Tennessee to use a former parking lot as the entry point for its boring.
