“The Authority Given to Us”

Clarification on Authority for a Believer

Definition of Authority: Authority has the power and right to act, speak, or make decisions granted by God.

Key Verse: Hebrews 1:1-2 - "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe."



The Kingdom Has a King

Key Verse: Matthew 28:18 - "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."

Additional References:
- Revelation 1:5-6 - "...to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve God and Father."
- Psalm 103:19  - "The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all."



The Fear of the Lord

Key Verse: Proverbs 1:7 - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge."

- Proverbs 9:10  - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
- Isaiah 11:2-3 - Describing the Spirit of the Lord resting on the Messiah, which includes "the spirit of the fear of the Lord."



Keys to the Kingdom

Key Verse: Matthew 16:19  - "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven."
