This is a reading by Etaoin Holahan of Chapter Four, 'Christmas Day 1871', of the novel The Big Chapel by author Thomas Kilroy.
The Big Chapel Project is a year-long celebration of the Man Booker-nominated novel, The Big Chapel by Callan author Thomas Kilroy. The novel is set in a fictionalised Callan of the 1870s and based on the real events surrounding the internationally notorious Callan Schools Affair. Asylum Productions, in partnership with Kilkenny Arts Festival and the Abbey Theatre, is co-producing this series of talks, workshops, events, podcasts and community gatherings, culminating in a large promenade theatre production in August 2019. The town of Callan in Co. Kilkenny and its community of people is the stage, cast and crew of this fascinating story, making it a truly Callan production.
