Today, the season of Pentecost will be celebrated by Christian churches all around the world. A Greek word meaning “fiftieth,” Pentecost represents a monumental turning point in Christian history. It commemorates the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the followers of Jesus. Remarkably, in this season of pandemic and quarantine, there are amazing similarities between that first Pentecost, and what we — the followers of Jesus — are experiencing today.
