Description

Bethelians Julia Snyder and Micah Pickus sit down with Rabbi Greyber and jennajoy to have one of those conversations it sometimes seems no one wants to have. Today we discuss Israeli-Palestinian conflict! Specifically, this episode focuses on the experiences of young adults at Beth El as they navigate balancing their Jewish identities with their personal politics in a landscape of fast-paced social media.

Whether leading services or teaching Hebrew school, both our guests -- Micah and Julia -- are deeply engaged Jewish young adults. Julia serves currently as Beth Meyers’s Program coordinator. She has studied Arabic and attended multiple programs in Israel including Birthright and the Masa program where she taught English in a Bedoin village. Micah minored in Islamic/Middle eastern studies at Brandeis University and is heading to graduate school at the University of Maryland this fall. He currently interns for a think tank on Near East Policy.

Even within the Jewish community, within Beth El, this is a topic we tend to keep close to our chests. So buckle up and listen as we agree, disagree, qualify and ultimately have the conversation not enough people are having
